Just two weeks shy of her 96th birthday, Jeanne Turcotte Schill passed peacefully into the arms of Our Lord on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024. Born in Wolcott, VT, on May 26, 1928, Jeanne was one of 13 children. Her parents Ernest and Marie Turcotte instilled in her a love of family and of faith. She was fortunate enough to find love twice in her lifetime with Charles Smith (Veteran) and again with James Schill (Veteran). She was a loving mother to three children: Michael Smith, Marie Hickman (Christopher), and Lisa Schill (Ashley Jordan). She was also a beloved grandmother to three grandchildren: Jennifer Hickman, John Hickman and Arianna
Jordan. She is predeceased by her parents, her 12 siblings, both of her husbands, and her son. Jeanne is survived by grandchildren, her daughters and their significant others.
Jeanne worked for WPB Industries for many years as a seamstress not only sewing garments, but also sowing kindness and compassion within her working and interpersonal relationships. During her retirement, she was a devoted food pantry volunteer at Holy Name of Jesus Church, where she was a parishioner for over 60 years. She was always more than willing to extend a helping hand to those in need, particularly the homeless and stray animals. Jeanne had an immense love of family, Engelbert Humperdink, Gone With The Wind, her celebrity crush Clark Gable, scary movies, science fiction, historical romance novels, and her many pets. She loved to reminisce about her childhood. Every family gathering included
interesting and quirky stories about growing up on her family farm in Vermont.
Jeanne was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all those that she leaves behind. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and integrity will live on through her children and grandchildren.
